Three men have appeared in court accused of stirring up hatred in relation to the Moygashel bonfire.
A structure had been placed on top of the bonfire under a tarpaulin and when this was removed it was a model of a mosque.
One man, Brian Neill (56) from Hollow Mills, Dungannon has already been charged with threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour or displaying material in a manner to stir up hatred or arouse fear on July 8, and remains remanded in custody having failed to obtain bail on a number of occasions.
At the time of his more recent appearance last month Dungannon Magistrates’ Court was informed three others had been charged and a fourth has been reported to the PPS.
Those three – who are all from Moygashel – appeared today (Wednesday) jointly accused of the same offence of displaying written material which was threatening, abusive or insulting, intending to stir up hatred or arouse fear.
They are Tyler Sommerville (28) and Simon Dilworth (58) both from Jacksonville Road along with John Black (48) from Prince Andrew Crescent.
Each spoke only to confirm their identities and that they understood the charges against them.
No further details surrounding the specific nature of the alleged offending was disclosed during the brief hearing.
A detective constable aware of the facts of the case confirmed the charges could be connected.
District Judge Francis Rafferty remanded the men on £250 bail each and ordered them to reside at addresses known to police at all times.
The case will return to court on September 23 to link with the coaccused.
