“Some knew him as the Lord of the Dance, some had known him as “the V”, but I’m glad I have known him as a great friend”, said DJ Bosco McShane upon learning of the passing of ‘legendary’ Dungannon showman, Patsy Vincent.
Tributes have been pouring in for Patsy who was well known throughout the province as a talented DJ, MC, performer and ‘absolute gentleman’. A ‘larger than life personality’, he would often work in a Michael Flatly impersonation to many of his gigs, gaining him his famous moniker of ‘Lord of the Dance’.
A DJ by trade since his late teens, Patsy had accumulated many a friend and acquaintance over the years, with DJ Bosco telling Tyrone I: “Everyone knew Patsy and Patsy knew everyone!”
One of the highlights of Patsy’s career was his work as an MC with the School Stars in Your Eyes competition across secondary schools all over Northern Ireland which ran for a successful period of some 15 years. Throughout the competition Patsy impersonated famous TV host Matthew Kelly as the show’s compere and had an incredible rapport with the performing children.
One person shared their fond memories of Patsy stating: “First came across Patsy many years ago doing Stars in your eyes in St Colman’s… A legend in your own right Patsy, one of life’s proper good guys. Rest easy, I’ve no doubt you’ll keep them all well entertained!”
Patsy leaves behind his four adoring sisters, Geraldine, Martina, Sarah and Trisha.
Patsy’s funeral details have not yet been announced.
