Traffic disruption expected at South Tyrone Hospital as planned road maintenance due to start

Road users can expect delays in the Carland Road area of Dungannon while roadworks are carried out.

The roadworks, which are estimated to last four weeks, will see closures in place at the South Tyrone Hospital. This is to allow for essential drainage and resurfacing works to take place.

Traffic is expected to be disrupted from Thomas Street Roundabout to 150m North of Thomas Street Roundabout with diversions in place between Monday June 12 to Friday July 7.

The scheme comes just four months after the last set of works on 700 metres of carriageway, from the Coalpit Road to Derraghdoan Road, which left the town ‘gridlocked’.

Commenting on the upcoming works, a spokesperson for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust said: “There will be no vehicular access to the hospital via the Main or Willowbank entrances.

“Instead, all traffic must enter the site via the Ambulance Depot on Quarry Lane and exit the site via the lane at Woodlawn House onto Quarry Lane.

“There will be a one-way system in operation with signage to assist drivers around the Main Block to keep traffic flowing”.

The Southern Health and Social Care Trust have also requested that service users only park in designated areas and not on any double yellow lines.

Road users are advised of alternative routes via Tullycullion Road, Mullaghmore Road and Quarry Lane.
