Planners to consider application Augher poultry unit to house 16,000 birds

Mid Ulster District Council’s planners are currently considering an application to erect a free range poultry unit in Augher.

The application, lodged by agent Bernard J Donnelly on behalf of Eamon McDermott will if approved see the erection of a free range poultry unit which could house 16,000 birds, a litter shed and two feed bins at lands approximately 170m south eat of 15 Halftown Road, Ballylagan, Augher.

The application form notes the 0.98 hectare site on which the unit will be situated is currently used for agricultural purposes.

It is anticipated traffic will increase on the road as a result of this development with one staff vehicle, one customer vehicle per fortnight and two goods vehicles per week expected to arrive at the site.

The application was lodged and verified on Wednesday, January 27 and will be advertised until Thursday, February 25.
