The Eglish community have this morning shared their deep saddness upon learning of the passing of hugely popular resident, Anne Feeney.
Anne passed away just yesterday, Wednesday October 26, following a short illness. The outpouring of condolence online indicates to all that Anne was an intensely kind-hearted person, full of joy and incredible faith.
Community group All Things Eglish shared their fond sentiments of Anne on social media, stating, “Anne was a hugely popular lady from a very well-respected local family. She was the life and soul of any gathering and loved by so many in the local community and beyond.
“She had a lifelong devotion to Our Lady and St Bernadette and was a key figure in the Dungannon Lourdes Hospitalite. She had just returned from her 31st pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine in late August this year.”
Many of Anne’s friends and family have taken to social media to express their sadness, but also, their sheer admiration of Anne and of her contribution to her community.
One tribute stated “She was a great woman and nothing was ever too much bother for her. She was a lovely singer and I spent many a Saturday night with her in the church choir…great memories. Thoughts and prayers are with Jackie and all the family at this sad time.”
Another said, “A huge loss to Lourdes community and our local community”.
Anne is survived by her devoted husband Jack and her children Sharron, John, Anne, Paul, Helen and Anthony. She was also Mother to her late and beloved son, Peter who passed in 1989.
Anne’s wake is due to be held today, Thursday October 27, at her family home 44 Cadian Road, Eglish.
A funeral mass will be held tomorrow Friday October 28, at 12pm in St Patrick’s Church, Dungannon.
