Police in Mid-Ulster have confirmed that one female will appear before Dungannon youth court on June 7.
The 17 year old female who cannot be named due to her age is charged with a number of driving offences which took place at Coolnafranky Park in Cookstown at lunchtime on Saturday May 21.
Posting on social media at the time Mid-Ulster Police said “It is hard to believe that in 2022, we are still dealing with and arresting drink drivers in Mid Ulster on a near daily basis”.
The statement came as PSNI attended a scene in Coolnafrankly Park where a drink driver had ploughed a car through a garden fence in the residential neighbourhood.
It continued: “”As you would expect on a Saturday afternoon, there were children playing in the area at the time”
The two occupants of the vehicle made off on foot but were both later arrested in the Fountain Road area of the town.
Police in Mid-Ulster praised the residents for their actions in preventing the car continuing after it had crashed and for their assistance in locating the two individuals involved.
The operation involved officers from Cookstown Neighbourhood Team, Magherafelt Local Policing Team and Tactical Support Group.
